A message for you…January 2008…
Below you will find an article on being a conscious consumer of services, practitioners, facilitators and businesses. We place this at the start of this section as a reminder for you to keep your truth front and center. We are excited to have our initial launch of services with onscious consumer, we believe, is an important and valuable skill. Finding and using businesses and services that resonate with you and that are also supporting the entire web will assist the continued development of all. An individual can make a difference. Just like a pebble dropped in a pond sends ripples out to the edge of the pond, an individual’s choices and actions ripple out to the edges of the universe. As each individual becomes a conscious consumer … those ripples grow … as those ripples grow each individual becomes a collective – and things change. We encourage you to bring your internal wisdom and conscious awareness to your choices.

At One Heart One Hand we are dedicated to providing a platform that is open to all people and all services…with the caveat that there is a relation to conscious living in the service/business listed on the platform. In lieu of monitoring all people listed and moving away from making personal judgments on listings, we have made a conscious decision to educate people on how to be conscious consumers. As well, we have often had people asking about how to find the right practitioner or asking us some of the great questions below. The questions and reminders listed below are not a tablet written in stone - they are suggestions to assist you. If you have anything to add to this list that we have missed, please send it along to us. Together we can create and respond … Together we can change the world!

Please note also that while you are reading through the resource listing or asking your questions of people there will be some of these services listed that will resonate with you…and others that will not. Rest assured that those services that do not resonate with you – will find someone else with whom they resonate. Allow what is not resonating to return to the cycle of the flow. If you have a less than beneficial experience with any of the services/professionals listed – let us know, and we encourage you to speak directly with that service/professional as well. Variety is the spice of life!

Here are some reminders while you are perusing this information in the Professional and Service Listings:

• All ways (always) keep your truth front and center.
• Be aware of your feeling and your sensations. Learn to trust that inner guidance you have. It is your wisdom communicating with you.
• Ask questions…and many of them.

Questions to consider for individuals providing professional services:

• What is the person’s training?
• What is their experience?
• How long have they been in practice/service for?
• Do they have clients you can speak with?
• What are their fees? Are their fees negotiable if there are financial constraints?
• Do they have a network of other professionals they refer to, or are referred by?
• What kind of support are they able to offer? Some people are available for emergency service and some are not.
• Get them to explain their service. If you do not understand, continue to ask questions. If they cannot answer your questions…ask them to refer you to someone in their field who can answer your questions.
• What are their unique skills and abilities? In what domains/situations are their skills best suited? Listen to see if they speak about knowing their limitations.
• Do they have a ‘specialty’?
• Do they integrate several different modalities? If so, can you pick and choose which ones you are interested in?
• Do they work in conjunction with other services or do they like that you use their service on its own?

Questions to consider for businesses and other related services:

• do they have sustainable environmental principles in place?
• are they involved in assisting social/community programs?
• are they knowledgeable on their product/service – can they provide you with detailed and current information?
• are they customer friendly – do they operate with respect and honor, are they easy to communicate with, do they have a system in place to respond to questions/issues/concerns?
• do they have a referral base or knowledge of other businesses within community?
• do they engage in their business operations with ethical, integrity filled and sustainable conduct? When they are not ‘perfect’ do they address your needs to the best of their abilities?

For 3 years in Toronto I studied the Oneness of Universal Medicine Wheel Teachings, and incorporate those with daily living. I have 16 years of experience as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant, working in Geriatrics, with physically and emotional challenged persons of all ages and in palliative care.
